Ann was discovered when she was performing in the Vogue Fashion Show together with her band. Diana Vreeland, the editor-in-chief of Vogue Magazine had Ann along with photographer Richard Avedon shoot Ann's first Vogue cover within a couple of days. In the following weeks, Ann was one of the most sought after models in the United States, appearing on the covers of the top fashion magazines like Vogue Bazaar and Cosmopolitan among several other publications. Ann began her international career in Europe as well as Japan following her modeling stint for Max Factor Revlon.
